New legislation regulating the taxation of the petroleum sector applies in Albania as from 2 February 2021 approved by the Albanian parliament replaces the existing law enacted from April 1994 and sets out the applicable taxation regime for petroleum operations with respect to:
- Profit tax on petroleum operations;
- Royalty tax; and
- Local and national taxes, and the extent to which a petroleum agreement may affect the obligation to impose tax
